Book 3 Preface/Summary
Without thinking, Corey took off for Marques.
"Marques! Don't--"
It was too late. Marques kept running and got hit with a full round of bullets in the chest. His eyes went wide and then he fell back into a small rain puddle.
The mystery killer sped off in the minivan. A loud roll of thunder sounded and rocked them. Calvin and Corey were left alone with Marques' body in the middle of the vacant parking lot. They ran for it.
When they reached Marques, they were genuinely grossed out. Marques had six bullet wounds, all in his chest. The rain mixed in with his blood, and simply washed it away. Corey knelt down by Marques to get a better look at him.
He stood back up and walked away in the rain. There was no mistake this time, like with Erin. There were no ambulances and paramedics to sweep his body up and carry him away. Corey knew the dreadful truth, and no one could tell him other wise.
Marques was dead...
